Hypnotherapy for children & teens
Good news. Children and young adults can respond well to hypnotherapy, so they often achieve their goals far faster than adults!
Hypnotherapy for children & teens
Your child’s brain works differently to yours. But then you’ve probably noticed that already. In fact your child’s brain will work differently to your adult brain until around the age of 24.
Parenthood can be stressful. I know because I have three children myself. I also worked for nearly 15 years in the Police Service before turning to my Hypnotherapy career full time and becoming a member or The International Society of Paediatric Hypnotherapists, TISPH. Parents told me of the long & frustrating NHS waiting lists, or that their child was not eligible for help. As parents, we all desperately want to help our children, to make everything right for them and to see them enjoying a happy childhood.
But who is the expert in your child? You are of course! Although it might not always feel like it, you spend more time with your child than anyone else & you know them better than anyone else. This means that you are in the perfect position to help them and that hypnotherapy can help both of you.
Hypnotherapy for children
In this increasingly busy world it is becoming more common for our children to experience anxiety related problems. These anxieties can manifest themselves in many ways, including night time disturbances, phobias, lack of confidence, anger, negative thinking and more. To help with very young children, I work with & support you, their parent, whilst you facilitate positive change in your child. Often just identifying a few small changes to make at home can be all that is needed. Understanding how your child thinks is key in this process.
My mother has a saying – you can’t expect someone to change for you, you have to change yourself first. I work 1:1 with parents to support them through positive change. I am here to support you in facilitating and realising positive change for your child.
Children following the narrative they hear. By changing ourselves, we as parents can in turn positively change our children. We all try to do our best by our children but understanding how their brains work differently to our adult brains work, how we can make small change ourselves and how that alone can help our children to realise fast and lasting change – is invaluable.
Your initial consultation is half price and you will immediately gain some invaluable insights. I believe that choosing the right therapist for your child is crucial. I don’t see the need to charge overinflated fees for the first session – whilst you are still in the decision making process.
Hypnotherapy for teens
Teens (and some older children) can benefit from coming to hypnotherapy sessions. They want to know what is going on, have an amazing ability to absorb new information and have powerful imaginations – so are perfect for hypnotherapy. A young teen’s hypnotherapy session is different to an adults, its more informal, more fun and as far from ‘school’ like as possible! I always recommend a session with just the parent to begin with to explain the process and discuss a plan.
I am always asked how many Hypnotherapy sessions will be need? But this is like asking ‘How long is a piece of string?’ The good news is that children and teens typically make positive change far quicker than adults. Solution Focused Brief Hypnotherapy is as the name suggests – Brief. Hypnotherapy typically requires fewer sessions than other talking therapies but ultimately how long it takes and it’s effectiveness is down to you.
Everyone is different, but the more you participate within the therapeutic process, the more you will benefit from it. I know your lives are busy but booking and sticking to your child’s hypnotherapy sessions is important to the process and can lead to a faster successful outcome.
My Hypnotherapy Practice is spacious and private. It is nestled within a delightful village setting near Wheatley, beside Oxford City and close to the M40, A34 & A40. There is generous private off road parking here for you. I don’t typically book clients back to back. My emphasis is on helping my individual clients and making everything convenient & seamless for you.
